Pema Chodron Quote

Like all explorers, we are drawn to discover what’s out there without knowing yet if we have the courage to face it.—Pema Chödrön

My Approach

The landscape of human psychology is so complex that there is no one model that fits all, or that is “right.” It seems that an integrated approach is consistently the most useful. I draw on over 40 years of experience with training in a variety of modalities, to create an integrated therapy that works best for you. I am often asked if there are significant influences in my work and yes, there are. I continue to be inspired by:

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems)
  • Mindfulness studies and Buddhist psychology
  • Contemporary relational psychoanalysis
  • Existential psychotherapy
  • The new brain sciences
  • Poetry (a great source of truth-telling & psychological insights)

I am also an artist and bring years of training and work with the creative process to inform my practice of psychotherapy. Life is hard, there are many challenges. But the journey of self-knowledge and self-acceptance makes it all worth it.

In addition to my interests above, I have specialized training in the following areas:

  • Addictions and Recovery
  • Aging and the Meanings of Aging
  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Feminist Psychotherapy
  • GLBTQ Issues
  • IFS (Internal Family Systems)
  • MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress-Reduction)
  • Psychology of Women
  • Trauma
